Chhagan Bhujbal, Maharashtra's new Deputy Chief Minister, is a busy man. He loves books and appreciates people who are capable of devoting enough time to reading them. Political activities, however, leave him with very little time for reading. ``I get the time to read only sometimes. I am a very occasional reader,'' he says quietly. And as he lists his favourite books, he is already thinking of boarding a flight to New Delhi and of the meetings he has to hold there.
Noted Marathi writer V S Khandekar's famous book, Yayati, is one book the deputy CM simply adores. Two other titles which rank among his favourites are, like the first one, historical novels and are closely woven around Maharashtra's socio-political fabric -- Vishwas Patil's Panipat and Ranjit Desai's Swami. And yes, Bhujbal also found Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things immensely enjoyable.
