CHANDIGARH, Nov 12: Wrestlers from MDU Rohtak, bagged three medals including gold in 54kg category to assert their supremacy on the penultimate day of the All India Inter-University wrestling championship at the PU Indoor Hall here today.Sandip set the ball rolling for Rohtak University by winning gold in 54kg section by defeating Gagan Chakarvarty of Jabalpur on points.
His team mate Sri Pal lost to Amandeep (Amritsar) in the final of 97kg division. And Navin Dahyia took bronze in 76kg group by beating Ravinder of Kevempu University (technical foul).
Bhramjeet of Panjab University outclassed Niranjan Verma (Indore) to win gold in 63kg category, to salvage some pride for the host. Sunil Kumar of JaunpurUniversity got silver in 76kg.
Tomorrow, finals will be held in 58kg, 69kg, 85kg and plus 97kg catgegories.
Results: 54kg: 1 Sandip Kumar (MDU), 2 Gagan Chakarvorty (Jabalpur), 3 Naresh (KUK), 4 Mukesh (Delhi). 63kg: 1 Bharamjeet (Punjab), 2 Niranjan Verma (Indore), 3 Pradip Kumar (Meerut), 4 Lalit Kumar (Delhi). 76kg: 1 Ashok Kumar (Meerut), 2 Sunil Kumar (Jaunpur), 3 Navin Dahiya (MDU), 4 Ravinder (Kevempu). 97kg: 1 Amandeep Sondhi (Amritsar), 2 Sri pal (MDU), 3 Rajinder (Punjab), 4 Som Nath (Pune).
