CHANDIGARH, Nov 14: Local Member of Parliament Pawan Kumar Bansal has promised to spend Rs 20 lakh on the development of sports and recreational facilities in the Union Territory. The amount will be advanced from his MP Area Development Fund.Bansal said there was a need to develop sports facilities in the Union Territory in a big way, so as to help promote sports among the children and help them be competitive in the field.
The local MP has also called upon the sector-level welfare associations to identify projects for development of playgrounds and parks in each sector, so far neglected by the authorities.
Bansal said that out of his MP Development Fund, he would also sanction projects for development of playgrounds and parks in each sector.
He said, he required the help of local welfare associations in identifying such unattended and vacant areas in each sector, which could be put to better utility, to develop sports and health awareness among the city residents.
Bansal made the commitment after it was brought to his notice that many parks and vacant spaces within the sectors had remained unattended and neglected by the authorities concerned and were required to be put to better use.
