CHANDIGARH, Nov 14: The Kerala Samajam here today marked its silver jubilee with Kathakali, Mohiniattam, Oppan recitals and Bhangra.Poothana Moksham, a celebrated recital in Kathakali was presented by Delhi-based Sreeja Unnikrishan. Sreeja is a student of the famous International Centre for Kathakali. Accompanied by three others, Sreeja's enacting was flawless and her expressions communicative.
Others from the ICK, who performed at the celebrations included Sriruma, who enthralled the audience with her Mohinattam performance. Oppana and Bhangra were staged by artistes from the city-based Nehru Yuvak Centre.
At the silver jubilee celebrations, prizes were also given to Class X and XII students belonging to the community for excelling in academics.
Among personalities attending the function were the IGP Rohtak Range, Dr John V. George, Punjab Additional Registrar, Cooperation, Raji P. Srivastava, Joint Commissioner, Income Tax, Pramod K. Srivastava and IDBI Deputy General Manager Prasad Nair. Sreeja Unnikrishan performing Poothana Moksham at the Tagore Theatre, on Sunday.
