Painting, declamation contests organised at GSSS, Mohali

S.A.S. Nagar, Nov 14: Government Senior Secondary School, Phase III-B-I, in collaboration with the Bathinda Zone Social Welfare Society, organised a Children's Day function in the school premises today. On-the-spot painting competition, folk songs and declamation contests were held on the occasion, in which some 100 students from various schools of the township took part. The children were divided into the junior and senior categories.

The winners of various competitions in each category were later given away prizes which included educational material, mementos and certificates. Punjabi singer Sukhi Brar also gave Rs 1,100 to the first three winners of both the categories in the folk song competition.

Speaking on the occasion ,Sub-Divisonal-Magistrate O. P. Popli said Children's Day should not be celebrations just for the sake of it. Children should get their due.

In another function in Shastri Public School in Phase I, fancy dress competition, on-the-spot painting competition and declamation contests were held.On the occasion, two school teachers recited poems and children put there thoughts on table for "Chacha Nehru". A book stall was also set up on the occasion. The S.A.S. Nagar SDM was the chief guest on the occasion.

Derabassi: Fun and frolic marked the children day celebrations at CVRM DAV Public School here today. Various competitions for the tiny tots and senior students were organised in the school premises. A number of games were also organised for the students of the school besides an musical chair game for the teachers.

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Territorial Mahila Congress celebrated Children's Day with slum kids living behind the Sector 26 market. The Congress leaders demanded free education for these children.
