Haryana civil surgeons meet to discuss health awareness campaign

PANCHKULA, Nov 14: Civil surgeons from 19 districts of Haryana participated in the conference held here today to discuss the strategy of implementation of the family health awareness campaign to be launched in 10 districts of the state, namely, Panchkula, Rewari, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Hisar, Bhiwani, Jind, Sonepat, Sirsa and Karnal.Earlier, the Haryana Health Department had launched the campaign in five districts of the state and achieved much success in spreading AIDS awareness. About 25,000 cases of sexually transmitted diseases were detected and treated free of cost. Follow up of these cases revealed that almost all had been cured. It is following thissuccess that a decision to implement the same in another 10 districts has been taken. The campaign will last from December 2-December 9, 1999, during which period all family health centres in rural areas will organise health camps. Pensioners want dispensary Chandigarh: The city unit of the Coordination Committee of the Central Government Pensioners Associations has demanded the construction of a dispensary for pensioners. Association chairman C.L. Punj today also demanded additional pension for additional service and revision of pension of pensioners retired between January 1, 1996 and post-1996.
