Speaking on the occasion of the annual function of Kaintal Junior School here, Riar said computers had changed methods of teaching the world over and it was necessary to initiate children into computer learning at an early age so they could use the medium effectively.

Riar also called for making school education simpler by making children understand concepts rather than depending on the rote system of learning. She said once a child understood a particular concept, he would be able to retain the knowledge being imparted to him.

School principal Neena Dhundia, while highlighting the activities being done in the school, said a computer laboratory had been developed in the school. She said besides this, all-round training was being given to the children and stress was also being given to environmental awareness, with trees and shrubs having been planted all around the school.
