ROOPNAGAR, Nov 14: Punjab Minister for Food and Supplies Madan Mohan Mittal today said the government would ensure primary education to all children in order to make Punjab 100 per cent literate.Addressing the state-level function organized by the Punjab State National Children's Fund Committee to celebrate Children's Day here said the government would soon launch a special campaign to re-admit all dropouts in schools. He said special checking of brick-kilns, industries and shops in the state would be undertaken to free the bonded child labourers working there.As many as 5,129 bonded child labourers had been released from brick-kilns, industries and shops during the checking conducted in the past and legal action had been initiated against the owners of the establishments, he added.
He said Roopnagar district would be adopted as model district to implement child welfare schemes and ensure free and compulsory education for all children. He directed the district administration to prepare the requisite project report for the purpose.
