MUMBAI, NOV 14: An unbeaten third-wicket partnership of 126 runs between Sushant Marathe (91) and Sanket Bhaye (46) enabled Esplanade Liberals score an eight-wicket victory over Bengal Cricket Club in the final of the Worli Sports Club under-14 cricket tournament, sponsored by Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, today.

Brief scores: Bengal CC 157 (Sunil Waghela 31) lost to Esplanade Liberals 158-2 (Sushant Marathe 91, Sanket Bhage 46).

Im Anup Deshmukh, the top seed, beat Deepak Tamhane in the first-round of the KD Publicity chess tournament, which got under way at the Andheri Sports Complex, today.

In another first-round game, FIDEMaster Avinash Awate beat 12-year-old Sanket Brahmabhat.
