Kavi Girish was father of Marathi writer and dramatist Vasant Kanitkar. He hailed from Rahimatpur.

Remembering Girish many poets, writers spoke on the occasion and lauded the contributions of three eminent poets from the region - Kavi Girish, Kavi Yashwant and Kavi Merdhekar. Noted writer from the city Arun Godbhole chaired the function on 2nd day.

The Chaundeshwari Shikshan Sanstha is planning to build a cultural centre, a girls school and a library in the memory of Kavi Girish in Rahimatpur. The school-building is almost ready. The works of Kavi Girish, Kavi Yashwant and Kavi Merdhekar will be kept in the library informed the chairman of the sanstha.
