PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Chennai, nov 16: Heavy vehicles major Ashok Leyland Limited (ALL) has posted a whopping 50 per cent spurt in sales during October aided by the overall economic revival and the pick up in core sectors like cement. The company sold 2,642 vehicles during October as against 1,674 vehicles a year ago and looked set to notch up a growth of between 18 to 20 per cent for the current financial year, a top company official said here.
"Movement of cement in the country and agro-commodities from the north to other places has picked up and the freight indices are firming up," ALL executive director (marketing) Amol J Sandil said adding that the company was looking for a boost in its medium-duty goods vehicles sales to bolster revenues in the current fiscal year.
