Joining hands to `chain polio'

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Nov 16: Thousands of local school children and teachers, along with members of service organisations such as the Rotary clubs, will form a human chain on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. precisely. The chain will be nearly 100 km long, encompassing nearly every part of the city. The event symbolises India's effort to "chain polio".

Road junctions will be cut off for traffic for a two-minute period at the sounding of a siren. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the chain.

The human chain formed here for a polio-free India will be one of many created throughout the country at exactly the same time; some 30 lakh people are expected to participate nationwide. Rotarians from Europe and America will also take part in the event.
