LG beat Geebung in opening match

NEW DELHI, November 16: LG defeated Geebung 6-4 1/2 in the inaugural match of the ABN-AMRO Bank Bhopal-Pataudi Cup tournament at the Army Equestrian Centre polo ground here today.The match was a keenly and closely contested affair. LG conceded 1/2 goal on handicap to Geebung and scored two goals against one goal in the first chukker.

The score was 2-1 1/2 in favour of LG. LG added two goals in the second chukker to take the lead by 4-1 1/2 at half time. Both teams scored one goal each in the third chukker. The score was 5-2 1/2 but Geebung scored two goals against one in the last and final chukker to reduce the margin 4 1-2-6. Angad Kalaan and Dhruvpal Godara scored three goals each for winners while Kevin Coventry scored three goals and Bill Sweetland scored one goal for the losers.

Pratima to lead
Anshu Adlakha of Manav Sthali and Pratima Sayal of Hans Raj Model School will lead the boys and girls table tennis teams, respectively in the 61st Junior National and Inter-State table tennis championships to be held from November 20 to 25 at Chandigarh.
The teams (Boys): Anshu Adlakha, Nitin Mahajan, Abhishek Puri, Amit Jain, Rajat Chopra, Ankit Anand and Gaurav Chopra. Girls: Pratima Sayal, Pooja Malik, Esha Bhambri, Apna Bhalla, Divya Jairam, Ritu Rana, Anshu Sharma and V Malini. PS Negi (manager) and Sandeep Gupta (coach).
