MUMBAI, NOV 17: Officials from the State government had begun relief operations in Jagatsinghpore, the worst-hit district in Orissa, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said here today.Briefing reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting, Deshmukh said that a team of senior officials, doctors and sanitary staff left for Orissa last night. He said that a ten-member team led by Minister of State for Home Kripashankar Singh, Principal Secretary (Home) G C Tripathy, Secretary (Co-operation) Umesh Chandra Sarangi, Additional Commissioner of Police Arup Patnaik, members of NGO's like Unique Service Trust, Latur also left for Bhubaneshwar and Jagatsingpore.
Deshmukh informed that camps have been set up along with two community kitchens in Irasama and Machgaon in Jagatsinghpore district to provide food to the affected persons. Three truck loads of food materials, comprising of rice, dal, potatoes, onions, oil, sugar and salt have also been despatched from Nagpur along with cooks and five officers while tentrucks carrying foodgrains and vegetables have been desptached from the APMC market, Navi Mumbai, he added.
