Chandigarh, nov 17: A search operation was carried out in the Bapu Dham colony here this morning in which the police arrested six persons.The police cordoned off the area early this morning and started the house-to-house search around 5 p.m. which continued for about two hours. While 33 persons were detained, only six were put under arrest and others were let off after verification.
Vinod Kumar, Vidya Sagar and Amir Khan of the Bapu Dham colony were arrested for not informing the police about their tenants, which is mandatory in accordance with the orders promulgated by the District Magistrate.
For violating a separate order of the DM, the police arrested three more persons. Three migrant labourers Nasir Kupwara and Shamir of a village in Jammu and Kashmir and Ramesh of Beghamganj in Uttar Pradesh.
They were held for not informing the police about their presence in the city.
East Sub-Divisional police officer Vijay Pal supervised the operations.
