Fake policemen rob real gold

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Nov 17: Two men posing as government officials conned gold ornaments worth Rs 12,000 from one Dinesh Soni near the Vadodara Municipal Corporation's ward office in Lehripura on Tuesday evening. The office is next to the Lehripura police outpost under the Wadi Police Station. A case has been registered in the Raopura Police Station in this connection.

According to Soni, the two dark, Hindi-speaking persons, in the age group of 30 to 35 years, stopped him saying they had been assigned to check baggages of `doubtful characters'. Taking them to be policemen in plain clothes, he allowed them to check his bag, in which he was carrying the ornaments.

Only when he checked his bag on reaching home did he realise that, despite his keeping a tight watch, the duo had managed to relieve him of his gold.
