DoT upgrades 195

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
VADODARA, Nov 17: The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) will upgrade the enquiry number, 195, which provides information in different languages on changed telephone numbers. The service will be launched from November 20.

According to a DoT spokesman, the announcement in Hindi would be available on 1951, announcement in English on 1952, while for information in Gujarati callers will have dial 1953. The department has also updated the telephone directory and will be available on CD-Rom for Rs 60. This can be obtained from the Customer Service Centre at Karelibaug, Zilla Panchayat building, Kothi, Fatehgunj and Makarpura.

Demands for new telephone connections under the Non Own Your Telephone (NonOYT) will be accepted at Customer Service Centre, Kothi, for exchange areas of the city (level 41,42,43) and Panigate (level 46,47,49,51). Registration for Gorwa (level 38), Subhanpura (level 39) and Sayajigunj (level 36) will be done at Customer Service Centre, Fatehgunj.

The DoT spokesman said completed application forms and a Demand Draft of Rs 3,000 payable to AO (Cash), GMTD, Vadodara Telecom District -- can be submitted at these centres. Customers will be issued the instrument and directory against registration. The DoT will try to provide telephone connection within seven days, the spokesman added.

The Customer Service centre at Karelibaug will handle registration for other categories for all exchanges. Meanwhile, the DoT has expanded the Bodeli and Tilakwada telecom exchanges by 152 lines each. With this expansion, 150 new telephone connections would be provided to these exchange bound areas, the spokesman added.
