Coordination among security agencies in J&Kneeded, says CM

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, NOV 17: In a high-level meeting on escalation of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah stressed the need for better coordination among various security agencies operating in the state. At the meeting chaired by Home Minister L K Advani, Abdullah called for effective coordination between security forces to check infiltration at the borders, home ministry sources said here.

The sources said the Chief Minister raised the issue of infiltration which the existing measures by the security forces had failed to control. Stressing lack of coordination between various security agencies, the Chief Minister was quoted as having said that ``the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing,'' sources said.

Abdullah had earlier demanded deployment of additional forces in the state to meet the escalated threat in the post-Kargil era. Besides Advani, the meeting was attended by Home Secretary Kamal Pandey, Vice Chief of Army Staff Chandra Shekhar and senior officers from BorderSecurity Force and Intelligence Bureau.
