Party spokesperson Prakash Jawdekar told media persons that it would be the first meeting of the executive committee after the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The meeting is also expected to analyse the party performance in the elections.

Jawdekar said a separate resolution on the State's financial position would be passed at the meeting since the ``Democratic Front government was misleading people'' on the issue. Jawdekar urged State finance minister Jayant Patil ``not to defame'' the previous alliance government by levelling ``false'' charges. He said that ``baseless criticism'' by the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders was affecting the State's credibility.

Jawdekar pointed out that the State revenue had increased by Rs 2,000 crore every year while a 54 per cent hike in the State income was recorded when the BJP-Sena government was in power. He maintained that the government could earn a record revenue by curbing corruption and making the recovery machinery more efficient and effective. Some 300 delegates, including district unit presidents, general secretaries, MLAs and MPs, would participate in the deliberations spread over three days. Union Ministers Pramod Mahajan, Ram Naik, Jaywantibehn Mehta, former deputy chief minister Gopinath Munde and national general secretary Sanghpriya Gautam would attend the meeting. The Union Ministers would also be felicitated.

Pradeep Rawat, BJP MP from Pune, informed media persons that the party would invite Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for the inaugural function of the sound and light show at the historic Shaniwarwada. Rawat also congratulated the Union Government for including Shaniwarwada in the list of historic monuments to be developed by the National Culture Fund (NCF). He said NCF had sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for the development of Shaniwarwada.
