Govt for early end to CPP case

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, NOV 19: The government has initiated the process for out-of-court settlement of cases between Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in matters like calling party pays (CPP), communication minister Ram Vilas Paswan said today.

Favouring such a process, Paswan said at the Economic Editors' Conference that matters like calling party pays (CPP) should be resolved among the concerned parties without going to the court.

He also hinted at bringing necessary amendments in the TRAI Act, if required, in order to give more powers to the regulator. He, however, refused to give any time-frame for the same.
