Riot breaks out in Thane after cops raid brewery

November 19: A riot broke out in Khaardi Village off Thane creek along the Bhiwandi-Vasai Road resulting in 30 people getting grievously injured. Twelve others were treated for minor injuries and discharged. The clashes began after a police party raided the arrack brewing distilleries in the village and seized liquor worth Rs 8 lakh. After the police party left, the villagers who ran the arrack distilleries attacked the police patil's house. A riot broke out there.
