Chandigarh, Nov 19: Collection camps have been set up in various parts of the city for collecting donations for the Orrisa cyclone victims.The local unit of BJP is collecting relief material, both cash and kind, at five camps. These are located in the Sector 22 C market, Sector 37 C market, Sector 20 market, opposite NAC office, Manimajra and BJP office, "Kalam", in Sector 33, Chandigarh. The material collected through these camps will be despatched to Orissa on November 25 through trucks.
The chairman of Cyclone Relief Committee has appealed to city residents to donate generously for the cyclone-hit people. He said the Committee has also started door-to-door collection to reach out to more people.
Parshotam Mahajan, president of trader cell of BJP, told Newsline that the response had been particularly good in the camp in Sector 35 C market. Rotary Club of Chandigarh (Midtown), in association with Trader Association of Sector 17, has also set up a collection camp for cyclone victims in Sector 17. An amount of about Rs 18,000 has already been collected.
Neelachal Trust, Sector 31-D, has also appealed for donations, both financial and material.
