The week is celebrated to make the general public aware of the role played by a pharmacist in the health care of the country, and to inspire students to take up pharmacy as a career. The theme of this years' celebrations was "Ask your pharmacist for the right advice" and it was organised by the Punjab branch of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, in collaboration with the Panjab University Pharmaceutical Society (PUPS).

The cultural adviser to the PUPS, Indu Pal Kaur, with the assistance of students and teachers of the Department, organised various contests and other events throughout the week. A quiz contest was heldtoday.
