Chandigarh, Nov 19: The sixth annual conference of Punjab Pensioners' Association will be held on November 20 at Arya Samaj Mandir, Sector 22 A.The conference will discuss the "anti-pensioner" attitude of the Punjab government and plan ways to get their demands fulfilled. The demands include implementation of recomendations of the Fourth Punjab Pay Commission, such as grant of 5 per cent and 10 per cent old age pension at the age of 65 and 75 years, benefit of travel concession to widow pensioners and grant of additional pension for performing service in excess of 33 years.
The Association is also demanding grant of dearness relief to re-employed pensioners and employed family pensioners on the lines of the Central government and adoption of the latest policy of the Central Government in respect of employees retired between January 1, 1996 and September 30, 1996.
