PANCHKULA, NOV 19: The Family Planning Association of India, Panchkula branch, organised a Healthy Baby Competition today, at the CFP Centre here. There were 69 participants in the show, all from adjoining villages and slums of Panchkula.The honourary treasurer, W.D. Kain, presided over the function and distributed prizes to the healthiest baby, adjudged by a panel of experts comprising Dr Sangeeta, Medical Officer, FPAI, and Dr Pinkesh Verma, paeditrician, General Hospital, Panchkula.
The programme consisted of a health check-up, IEC activities regarding baby care, immunisation, health awareness, counselling on hygiene, nutrition, breast feeding and family welfare measures for mothers. The children were divided into three categories, according to age -- up to 1 year, 1-3 years, and 3-5 years.
