Bangladeshis held in E Delhi
Twenty-nine cases of theft registered in the Mandawali police station have been solved with the arrest of five Bangladeshi nationals from the area. The breakthrough came with the apprehension of two persons near Engineering Estate, I.P. Extension, at around 5 p.m. last Monday. The two, later identified as Yanur and Abbas, the police say, gave wrong identities to the police when they were stopped during a routine check.

Silver jewellery worth Rs 10,000, three wrist watches, a wall clock, two cameras, three emergency lights, two tape recorders and some clothes were recovered from their possession.

cases have been booked against all five under various sections of the CrPC.

Dinesh Thakur's associate held
An associate of the dreaded Dinesh Thakur, Jagannanth Kumar Pandey (22), was arrested by the anti-robbery section of the Crime Branch on Thursday.Pandey was apprehended, following a tip-off, by a team lying in wait near Priya Cinema hall, near Vasant Kunj, where he had come in a stolen car to meet an associate of his.

The arrest solved two cases of car theft that had occurred in Ashok Nagar and Sarojini Nagar this year.

Gambling den busted
A gambling den operating from a house in Anand Nagar, Inderlok, was busted on Friday by the police. Nine gamblers operating from the premises were arrested and Rs 50,000 in stake money and Rs 7,000 as loose change lying with the gamblers, were picked up. The strike came after the police received a tip-off that a gambling unit was operating at house no. 313 / 74 - D first floor, Anand Nagar. A team raided the premises and the house was targeted on Thursday. Seven persons and the owner, Naresh Chand, (42) were arrested. on charges of allowing gambling on the premises.

A case under the Gambling Act has been registered at the Sarai Rohilla police station.
