Weekend Retreat/Jackie Shroff
His detractors have written him off as a fading star. But with an impressive lineup of films -- the late Mazhar Khan's Gang, Shantanu Sheorey's Jadd, J P Dutta's Refugee, Partho Ghosh's Dil Ke Aas Paas and his own banner Grahan -- Jackie Shroff is all set for a promising second innings on the silver screen. The actor is excited. Nervous too. How does he soothe the jangled nerves? Goa, with its silver beaches and golden sunsets, is the perfect weekend retreat from the chaos of Bollywood, says the actor. He also loves the lush surroundings of Matheran. ``At one point of time I used to go there very often. But now people hound me for autographs, which makes me very uncomfortable. But I still go down occasionally to visit an old Shiv temple, which is special,'' he says. When in Mumbai, Jackie is a complete homebird and likes to relax with his family. A self-confessed computer junkie, he loves to chat on the net and even has his own web page. Pottering around in the kitchen is another source of relaxation. No mean cook, Jaggoo Dada can rustle up a spread of culinary delicacies in a jiffy. ``But strictly vegetarian recipes,'' he qualifies. -- Sona Bahadur Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
