State depts to go online

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, NOV 19: The Information and Public Relations Department of the state government will soon go hi-tech with the introduction of computers and the launching of a web-site, informed Minister of State for School Education, Information and Public Relations Anil Deshmukh.

Deshmukh said that it has been decided that all sub-ordinate information offices, especially those at the district and divisional level will be connected to Mantralaya on a priority basis. Accordingly, the information offices irrespective of their status in future will function autonomously so far as dissemination of information is concerned.

He said that private newspapers officers in all districts and Mumbai will henceforth receive news items right on the terminals of their news desk. Every district information office will be equipped with digital video cameras and scanner machines which will help quick delivery of photographs from Mantralaya to field officers and vice versa.
