Heavy rains wreak havoc in TN, 6 dead

Chennai, Nov 23: Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today told the State Assembly that the heavy rains in Thanjavur, Tiruchi and Nagapattinam districts in the last few days has claimed six lives and rendered 45,000 persons homeless. The families of each of the deceased would be given an ex-gratia of Rs 15,000. The District administration has been instructed to provide all relief to the affected people.

The dead were a four-year-old girl in Thanjavur, a woman and her two children in Villupuram, a woman in Perambalur and another woman in Tiruchi.
