Gates donates $26m for tetanus eradication New York: Microsoft head Bill Gates has given 26 million dollars to fight maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) in developing nations, Unicef has said. The United Nations Children's Fund said that the gift from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would fund immunisation and other programs aimed at eradicating MNT, which killed about 215,000 newborns and 30,000 mothers in 1998.Profiting from policing Los Angeles: The commission that oversees the Los Angeles police DEPARTMENT believes it has found a way to make money from one of the country's best-known police forces. The city's police commission is planning to license the department's logo to Hollywood and clothing manufacturers by next year, hoping to generate royalty revenue. Dean Hansell, a member of the commission, said that clothing and memorabilia manufacturers would need a license from the department to use ``LAPD'' and would be charged a portion of the profits from sales of suchitems.
