400 children take part in contests

CHANDIGARH, Nov 23: The Bhai Surinder Singh Malik Memorial all-India essay writing and on-the-spot poster-making competition for college and school students was organised by Jat Sabha today at the Jat Bhawan.

Almost 400 students from schools of Chandigarh and surrounding areas participated in the contest. The topic of the essay was "Increasing unemployment and its remedies". The results of the essay writing competition will be announced on the eve of the 119th birth anniversary of Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram, on February, 10, 2000. The topic of the poster-making competition was: "Increasing population of India and its impact on society".

The results of the poster-making competition are Category A: first - Meenaxi. Second - Akshat. Category B: first - Neeraj. Second - Rohit. Category C: first - Harkanwal. Second - Lalit. Additional Director General of Haryana (Haryana Police) MS Malik was the chief guest.
