NEW DELHI, November 23: With the fate of the two courses offered by the Banarsidas Chandiwala College under the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprashta (GGSI) University still uncertain and with the future of 130 students still at stake, trustees of the college are once again knocking at court's door hoping to find a solution. This time, the petition follows GGSI's decision to postpone the counselling session of the two courses -- Bachelors of Hotel Management and Catering (BHMCT) and Masters in Computer Application (MCA). The counselling was scheduled for November 4 and November 5, while the first academic session was to commence on November 15.
If the courses do not begin, the institute will suffer a loss of about Rs 1 crore. Earlier, the trustees had gone to court with the plea that the fee structure of the courses was not feasible and would lead to losses. Following this, the court had, barely 10 days before the first academic sessions was to begin, passed an interim order allowing the institute to charge in accordance with its expenses.
GGSI was supposed to file a reply to this petition. However, the university put a public notice announcing that session had been postponed. The petition complains that both the trust and the students will suffer if the course is postponed. The trust has requested the court to restrain GGSI from withdrawing the approval given to the Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering and the Institute of Information Technology.
