NEW DELHI, November 23: For their contribution in administering justice, two retired Supreme Court judges -- Justice S.C. Aggarwal and Justice Sujata V. Manohar -- have been selected for the National Law Day Award for 1998 and 1999, respectively.Eminent jurist and Rajya Sabha member Fali S. Nariman has also been honoured for his contribution to constitutional law, and advocates Rohit Kochhar and Sushil Kumar of Delhi and Rajinder Singh of Jabalpur have also been awarded for work done in corporate and criminal laws, respectively.
The awards, instituted in 1989, include a citation and plaque and will be presented at a function here on November 26.
Other awardees include chairman of the Bar Council of India, Girish D. Bhatt and M.N. Krishnamani (civil law), Shiv Prakash and D.P. Sharma (legal affairs), Ram Phal Bansal (election law), Madhu Tewatia (municipal law) and B.S. Chandel (legal education).
Eminent legal luminaries including justices M.N. Venkatachaliah, Rangnath Mishra, M.H. Kania, K. Jayachandra Reddy, Ram Jethmalani and Soli Sorabjee are among those who have received the award earlier.
