AHMEDABAD, Nov 23: At least nine persons including six of a family died and six others were injured in four different road accidents on Monday. According to police, six persons of a family died near Geratpur village on Ahmedabad-Mehsana Highway. Police said the family was returning after submerging the mortal remains of a family member from Siddhpur when the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a truck.Dayabhai Kachrabhai Solanki (55), Pankaj Dayabhai Solanki (40), Ashwin Dayabhai Solanki (20), Dhiraj Dhayabhai Solanki (34), Natha Varubhai Solanki (60) and Balabhia Jivabhai (60) died on the spot. Meanwhile, three accidents and three deaths were reported from the Sarkhej-Bavla Highway on Monday. In the first incident, Dalabhai Mohanbhai Sonara was killed when he was hit by a speeding truck (GJ-20-4871) near the Market Yard in Sarkhej at about 6 pm. Dalabhai died on the spot.
In another incident near near Sanathal village, one unidentified person about 70 years old was killed when he was run over by a truck. Police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver and are investigating. In the third accident the cleaner of a truck Jayesh Bhavsar was killed when the truck in which he was travelling overturned after it was hit by another truck. Sanand police have registered a case against the driver of the other truck Darbarsingh Amarsingh Luhana.
