Family killed in TN slum fire
KANCHEEPURAM:
All the four members of a family, including two children, were charred to death in a fire in their hut at Nellimedu village near here, on Tuesday night.

According to the police the victims, Govindan (30), his wife Anjalai (25), his two-year-old daughter and four-month-old boy, were asleep in their hut, when the mishap occurred. A spark from a lamp lit inside the hut for the Karthigai Deepam festival was said to be the cause of the fire. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Militant groups clash, 2 injured
AGARTALA:
A militant and a collaborator were seriously injured during an encounter between two militant outfits at Kalyanpur in West Tripura on Wednesday. Police said here that in the encounter between All Tripura Tiger Force and National Liberation Front of Tripura the youths sustained bullet injuries. They were shifted to the G B hospital here in a critical condition.

15 die in jeep-truck mishap
JHANSI:
FIFTEEN people were killed in a collision between a jeep and a truck near Raksa on the Jhansi-Shivpuri road early on Wednesday, police said. The victims travelling in the jeep were returning after attending a marriage ceremony. Fourteen people died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries on way to hospital, police said.

11 oil tankers on rail gutted in fire
RATLAM:
Railway traffic between Amargadh and Bamania stations of Western Railways were disrupted as a major fire engulfed eleven oil tankers of Delhi bound special goods train early on Wednesday, railway sources said. Fire fighters from Indore, Dahod, Jhabua were rushed to put out the fire.

A senior railway official said the train had 40 oil tankers and added that the cause of the fire was yet to be known.
