Harassment complaint
Gnyaneshwar Bhalchandra Patil has lodged a complaint at the Amraiwadi police station, on Tuesday, against his daughter, Minaben Sambhaji Vatika's mother-in-law, Rupaben. This was after 19-year-old Minaben allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday night at her house in Bhavaninagar, Amraiwadi, by dousing herself with kerosene and setting herself afire. She died on Wednesday morning at the L G Hospital. Patil has alleged that Minaben was being taunted and harassed. No arrest has been made.Burns death
Isanpur-resident Pushpaben Jashvantbhai, 18, died of serious burn injuries at the L.G.Hospital on Monday night. Pushpaben had sustained the burns while lighting a stove. She was preparing tea. Vatva police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating.
Gamblers held
City police on Tuesday registered nine cases under the Prohibition Act and arrested 12 persons with 64 litres of country-made liquor, 17 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, three scooters and a motorcycle. The police also registered two cases under anti-gambling Act and arrested six persons with cash and gambling equipment. Fourteen persons were arrested as a precautionary measure.
Traffic penalty
City Traffic police on Tuesday registered cases against 271 vehicle-owners and collected fines on the spot. This included 197 two-wheelers, 26 three-wheelers, 45 four-wheelers and three six-wheelers. Besides they also registered cases against 408 drivers for various offences.
