AHMEDABAD, Nov 24: The Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) has demanded a national policy for women working from their homes. According to SEWA, more than 10 lakh women in the State earn little despite working hard. SEWA is hosting a convention of home-based women workers here on Thursday. This is to demand a national policy for these women. The main features of this policy should be recognition of these workers, social security fund and provident fund.

It is estimated that about 92 per cent of the women workers are employed in home-based industries, and contribute 63 per cent to the Gross Domestic Produce.
The organisation with 1.42 lakh members, is active in nine districts of the State.
"We are expecting more than 2,000 persons to attend the convention," said Manali Shah, co-ordinator, SEWA.
