EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PANCHKULA, Nov 24: The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam Ltd (UHBVN) has got a poor response to the "Voluntary Disclosure Scheme" in the township, under which the residents are required to disclose the additional load being consumed by them. The scheme was launched in Haryana in the month of October, but UHBVN officials say that the department has not got much response from the Panchkula residents. Out of the total connections in the domestic category, which are 19041, only 25 entries have been received by the department under the scheme. Meanwhile, in the commercial category, 28 entries out of a total of 514 connections have been received. The procedure for the disclosure is to submit a simple certificate on plain paper, declaring the additional load, and by submitting the calculated security deposit to the concerned SDO. All the consumers voluntary declaring the unauthorised load shall submit a certificate to the following effect: "It is certified that the electrical wiring has been got done through an authorised wiring contractor and the installations are safe for use. I undertake to abide by the provisions of my existing agreement with Nigam along with all terms and conditions of power supply as amended from time to time for the disclosed load." The department officials say that after November 30, the department will start conducting house-to-house raids and will check electronic gadgets like geysers and air conditioners. The defaulters will be fined Rs 50 per kilo watt for six months, in case of domestic use, and Rs 100 in case of commercial defaulters. Copyright © 1999 Indian Express Newspapers (Bombay) Ltd.
