CHANDIGARH, Nov 24: One of the most versatile regiments of the Indian Army will mark its Raising Day with a "multi-dimensional and multi-purpose expedition''.According to a Defence statement today, the 65 Engineer Bridge Regiment will begin a 765-km long cycling-cum-white-water-rafting-cum-trekking expedition on Friday, as part of its Silver Jubilee Raising Day celebrations.
Beginning from Ambala Cantonment, the 43-strong expedition team will cycle down to Sharanpur, Roori, Rishikesh, Devaprayag and Pauri Garhwal, and will chart a return route through Lancedon, Kotduwar, Haridwar, Dehradun and Ponta Sahib. The team's white water rafting route will span Shivpuri to Rishikesh, while trekking will be from Devprayag to Pauri Garhwal. To be flagged of by 2 Corps Commander Lt Gen G.S. Sihota from Khargha Stadium in Ambala, the team will be led by its Commanding Officer, Col K. Shankar Rao.
