West Bengal check PSCBA to enter boys doubles final

Navneet Singh
CHANIDGARH, Nov 24: The formidable Bengal spoiled Petroleum Sports Control Board Academy (PSCBA) party when the duo of A Nandi and Amit Das beat S Saha and Sukhant Das 21-12, 21-18, to enter boys doubles final on the penultimate day of the 61st Stroh's National and Inter-State table tennis championships at the Sector 23 Indoor Table Tennis Hall, here today.

Earlier, in the other semifinal, Anal Kashyap paired with Soumdeep (PSCBA) to outplay Subham and Sourav Chakraborty (Bengal) 21-19, 11-21, 21-12.

The girls doubles semifinal between Bengal and Maharashtra was a tame affair. As expected Mamta Prabhu and Sherry Crawford (Maharashtra) could not stop the duo of Poulami Ghaktak and Mouma Das (Bangal) from entering the final. The former lost 9-21, 15-21.

In the second semifinal BM Ashwini and S Prasad (Karnataka) halted Tamil Nadu's good run in the meet by beating the duo of M Aprana and S Prasanna 21-18, 21-13, to keep in contention for the title.

In the boys singles event, top seed Anal Kashyap of PSCBA kept his billing intact by scoring 21-12, 21-10, 21-15 victory over Somnath Ghosh of Bengal to enter the quarter-finals.
