GCG-11 retain title

CHANDIGARH, Nov 24: Government College for Girls, Sector 11 blanked MCM DAV College, Sector 36, 2-0 to retain the title in women's group in the Panjab University Inter-College tennis tournament at PU Campus here today. GCG won the title third time in a row.

Simmi Rani set the ball rolling for GCG-11 by beating Tripti 6-0, 6-0 in the first singles. In the second singles, Tarminder had no difficulty in scoring 6-1, 6-4 win over Shilpa to lift the trophy.

Earlier AS College for Women, Khanna, who lost to GCG-11 in semifinals, got the third place in the meet.

GCE win
Government College for Education, Chandigarh won the title in the PU Inter-College `B' division table tennis (women) tournament today. Dev Samaj College of Education-36, got the second spot.
Results: GCE bt GMC-32, 3-1 (Sunita lost to Rakhi 17-21, 21-19, 12-21; Barkha KC bt Nidhi 21-2, 21-3; Ramandeep bt Tripat 21-5, 21-3; Barkha KC bt rakhi 21-14, 21-15). DSC-36 bt DAVC, Abhor 3-1 (Shagundeep Kaur lost to Gitanjli 9-21, 13-21; Rajni Gujral bt Ruchika 21-8, 21-19; Nidhi Bhukhtiar bt Meenu Monga 21-3, 21-2; Shagundeep Kaur bt Ruchika 21-15, 21-16). GCE bt DSC-36, 3-0 (Sunita bt Shagundeep Kaur 21-13, 21-4; Barkha bt Nidhi 21-0, 21-3; Ramandeep bt Rajni Gujral 21-11, 21-12).

PU Boxing
SD College-32 with 35.5 points won the Panjab University Inter-College boxing championship held recently.

DAV College, Chandigarh with 22.5 points took the second spot while Govt College, Hoshiarpur and DAV College, Hoshiarpur were joint third with 22 points.
