NEW DELHI: A P J Abdul Kalam, scientific adviser to defence minister, was on Thursday appointed principal scientific adviser to the government of India and accorded the rank of a Cabinet minister.
Dara aide held
BARIPADA: The police has arrested Mahendra Hembram, an associate of Dara Singh, main accused in the Graham Staines murder case, from Jamshedpur last night. A special squad of the police, led by Dilip Das, nabbed Hembram from the steel city.
Sharma critical
NEW DELHI: The condition of former president Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma was stated to be `critical' since he complained of breathlessness this morning. The former president had been put on ventilator since morning and therewas no improvement in his condition, the sources said.
