PANCHKULA, Nov 25: The 23rd Inter-Sector First Aid and Ambulance Competition of the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) held at the 9th Battalion installation since Wednesday was declared today.Teams from seven sectors, each comprising four members, took part in the First Aid and Ambulance Competition. Base Hospital Commandant M.V. Kameshwar Rao said the performance of a team is judged on a number of prerequisites.
Each team is given a case and the overall performance of the teams would include their interaction with the patient, the tidiness in their first aid operation, their method of dealing with obstacles, yet maintaining the speed.
The 100-yard obstacle path, from giving first aid to the patient to his evacuation in an ambulance, is given to the teams. The competition was judged by representatives of the Red Cross and St. Johns Ambulance Service and senior medical officers of the ITBP. Rao further informed that the ITBP team maintains the best timing of 10.50 minutes, among the Central Police Organisation (CPOs). Apart from the ITBP, the CPOs comprise the BRD, CISF, CRPF and Assam Rifles.
According to an ITBP statement today, sectors J&K-I, L&C, Garhwal, J&K-II, Himachal Pradesh, Training and Kumaon were judged first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Among individual toppers in the first aid and ambulance drill competition, Constable Nityan Nand of L&C Support Battalion came third, Constable Madan Lal of J&K-I 23rd Battalion came second while Ranjeet Singh of J&K-II 2nd Battalion came first.
The ITBP further said the results of the 14th Wireless Training and Cryptography Competition held yesterday will be declared tomorrow.
