PANCHKULA, Nov 25: The Nav Bal Niketan School wore a colourful look on the occasion of its annual prize distribution function here today. The chief guest on the occasion was Krishna Gahlawat, minister for social welfare, Haryana.The programme started with a welcome song rendered by the school students and was followed by a fancy drill exercise with band and Saraswati vandana by the students. Particularly appreciable was the animal project that depicted the zoo scene on the stage. The Quawali item performance by the tiny tots also won applause.
The students of nursery class presented "Big Balloons," an item of rhymes which was followed by a group song. A western dance presented by the students was also appreciated by the audience. Other items included an one-act play, Rajasthani dance, skit, and a Bhangra performance. School principal Poonam Mahajan read the annual report.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appealed to the educationists and the teachers to impart quality education to the children as they are the future nation builders. She said, "Even though we boast about equality of men and women in terms of law but still we are lagging behind as far as educational status of women is concerned." Gahlawat added that soon the target to attain full literacy among women will be achieved. She stressed on the importance of education. She later gave away the prizes to students excelling in sports, academics and extracurricular activities.
