AMBALA, Nov 25: The four alleged culprits in the Mukesh Jain murder case were remanded to one day's police custody by the ilaqua magistrate here today.The police, who had arrested two of the culprits, Rajinder alias Sonu and Gurpreet, yesterday, apprehended the remaining two accused, shopkeeper Bachitar Singh and his servant Anant Ram, and produced all the four in the court today. All the four have been booked under Section 302 IPC for the murder of Mukesh Jain, who succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh yesterday, after he was referred there in a precarious condition.
Mukesh had suffered internal abdominal injuries following a brawl between the two parties over the sale of some commodity in the Kabari Bazaar, Ambala Cantonment, on November 20. Both Mukesh Jain and the alleged assailant, Bachitar, ran shops opposite each other in the bazaar.
Besides, Following a 7-hour gherao of the Sadar police station by shopkeepers and political activists, to protest the alleged refusal by the police to register a case against the assailants and arrest them, Station House Office Hari Ram was sent to the police lines and the investigating officer, ASI Amar Chand, has been suspended.
