ROOPNAGAR, Nov 25: The Punjab Cooperative Sugar Mill Workers' Federation has urged the government to revise the wage structure of the sugar mill employees in the state on the pattern of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka, after abolishing the Sugar Wage Board.In a press release issued today, Federation president Karnail Singh Lakhimpur said the 20,000 sugar mill employees of the state were facing great hardships due to non-revision of their wage structure since 1998. He said they were not even opposed to the hike in cane prices, provided their wage structure was also revised.
Govt employees hold protest march
Kharar: The newly-formed Kharar Block Mazdoor Mulazam Talmel Kendra today held a massive march here to protest the anti-employee stance of the government and the recent hike in the diesel and power prices. Hundreds of workers employed in various government establishments in the block, carrying placards and banners with anti-government slogans written on them, participated in the march.
