Rising terrorist attacks in Tripura worry BJP brass

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, NOV 25: BJP today said law and order situation in Tripura is bad as seen by increased terrorist violence but felt it is up to the Centre to take a decision on imposition of President's Rule in the state.

"We feel the law and order situation in the state is bad. But, as far as imposition of President's Rule in the state is concerned, we leave it to the government, prime minister and home minister to take the appropriate decision at the appropriate time," party Vice President Krishan Lal Sharma told newsmen here.

However, all political parties should unitedly fight terrorism in Tripura as well as in Jammu and Kashmir where Pakistan has stepped up its proxy war, Sharma said.

He said unless Pakistan stopped aiding and abetting terrorism in Kashmir, it would not be possible to have a "proper dialogue with that country."

Sharma said it was Pakistan which had "let down India even after we had extended a hand of friendship by the Lahore bus diplomacy of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee."
