Vadodara take crucial lead

VADODARA, NOV 25: The West Zone Ranji Trophy tie between Vadodara and Mumbai meandered into a draw on Thursday once Zaheer Khan sent Rajesh Pawar sailing over the mid-wicket fence to give Vadodara the vital first innings lead in the eighth over of the day.

Vadodara, with five points for the first innings lead, finished with 10 points from two matches while Mumbai have 11 from two -- having earlier gained eight from the outright victory against Maharashtra.

Jatin Paranjpe scored an unbeaten century in Mumbai's second innings, and the much-fancied visitors finished at 228 for two from 66 overs.

Niraj rescues Gujarat

Rajkot: Teenager Niraj Patel (100 not out, 13x4) thwarted Saurashtra's bid for an outright victory overs Gujarat as their match ended in adraw.

Saurashtra collected five points while Gujarat took three.
