NEW DELHI, November 25: Kashmir Beat Army 11-5 in Pool A match of the President Cup Open Polo Tournament today at the Jaipur Polo Ground.Army, a 12 goal team, gave a good fight to a 19 goal Kashmir team. Being an Open tournament no advantage of handicap was awarded. Starting on an offensive note, Kashmir went up 3-0 in the first chukker and again scored three goals in the second chukker whereas Army opened their account by scoring a goal. The score was 6-1 at the end of second chukker.
In third chukker, both sides scored two goals each while in the fourth chukker Kashmir scored two and Army had one. Both the teams tried their best and scored one goal each in the final chukker. Angad Kalaan played a brilliant game and scored six goals, Jason Dexon scored three goals and Lokendra Singh scored two for winners. For losers, Pinka Virk scored three (all penalties), Tarun Sirohi and Atul Gupta scored one each.
BARIA Cup: In the quarter-finals of Baria Cup, Waltzing Matilda/RVC beat Cavaliers 4-2. Capt AS Randhawa (2), Dharminder Singh (1) and Kevin Coventry (1) scored for winners while for losers Capt Ajay Ahlawat and Raghavraj Singh scored a goal each. Army Polo and Riding Club (Red) beat Fort William 5-3 1/2. For winners BP Singh (2), Maj. Sunil Shiv Das (1), Bhawani Singh (1), Bhawani Singh (1) were the scorers while for losers Maj Tarsem Singh (2) and Maj Shailendra Singh (1) scored. Losers started with 1/2 goal handicap. Remounts and Stadus beat Kohinoor 5-3 1/2. Rajesh Sahgal (2), Maj SS Kashyap (1), Lt. Akhi Sirohi (1) and Govinder Singh (1) were scorers for winners while for losers Phillip Elliott scored all three goals. The losers started with 1/2 goal on handicap.
