MUMBAI, NOV 29: Immediate repairs of houses and public infrastructure in Jagatsingpur district of Orissa which has been adopted by Maharashtra are the two important areas which the government is looking to for permanent rehabilitation, informed Co-operation Secretary Umesh Chandra Sarangi.Talking to newsmen after returning from Orissa, Sarangi said that the entire restoration will take at least four to five years. He said that the committee headed by Principal Secretary G C Tripathi has submitted its report to the Cabinet which will take a final decision.
Apart from repairs of houses and infrastructure, Sarangi said that construction of cyclone stalls, agricultural rehabilitation, providing orphanages to cyclone victims, physiotherapy for survivors are the other areas that need to be looked into for permanent rehabilitation. Sarangi further pointed out that rehabilitation on the lines of Latur has yet to be decided.
He said that the five community kitchens opened by the State feeds 10,000 to 12,000persons per day. Apart from the Rs 5 crore donation given by the State, items worth Rs 7.5 crore have already been distributed all across Orissa.
CM TO MEET ZP CHIEFS:
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will meet all Chief Executive Officers and presidents of Zilla Parishad on Tuesday morning at Y B Chavan auditorium to discuss various issues.
In the afternoon the chief minister will meet all district collectors and divisional commissioners at the same venue.
EMPLOYMENT GUIDANCE CENTRE:
The State Government has set up an employment and self-employment guidance centre for youths. The centre which has been set up at Yogakshema at Nariman Point will be inaugurated by Minister for Transport, Employment and Self-Employment Shivajirao Moghe.
